Five years since stage IV diagnosis

Postby Atoq » Thu Feb 23, 2023 6:11 am

Hi, I just thought I would check in to share the wonderful news that at the last scan and scope everything was fine :D
The surveillance is ending here and I go back to the same statistics as people who never had a cancer diagnosis.
I hope this positive story will encourage someone! I was diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer and one metastasis in the lungs and I am now living a pretty much normal life.

You can find my story at this link: viewtopic.php?t=59025

All the best and take care!

Claudia: Congrats! That is huge. On a personal note, your story really inspired me when I was facing my VATS surgery. I recall you saying that yours didn’t have a significant impact on your lung function, and that you would have noticed, “because [you’re] a runner.” That pulled me through sometimes as I got back into running. Now back to nearly daily running, I can say that you were 100% right (though I still use it as an excuse when I run with my teen son ; )

Now I just hope that I can follow you some more, with luck all the way to five years clear. Thanks to you and others like you who post these milestones.
