Scan news

All clear in abdomen and pelvis.
The lymphnode in right lung that has been there for 3yrs (at dx) has grown from 3x4mm to 4x6mm since last scan in April. So ya, worrisome. PET/CT scan in 2 months to keep an eye on it.

I asked for surgery again and determine under microscope testing if a met or not. He just shook his head. He said most often a biopsy is needed. I said NO WAY as it can seed cancer.
Waiting on more info about whole biopsy vs needle biopsy.
The thoracic surgeon is looking at scan and will give me his opinion. I got to be ready to state my concerns and wishes to get the thing out of there. And of course I will be getting 2nd and 3rd opinions to compare.
I don't know anything about cryoblation?
Like you, I'm in new territory!

Hello, Beachsunrise

Some kind of ablation could be a ggod idea. Of course this is a personal decision, but no matter if it is a met or not, it will get completely killed by the ablation - with possible little impact, depending of the location.

I had one ablation on the liver for a much bigger mass 2 years ago and I am clean until now.

I wish. the best for you on treating this lymphnode

How does treating a lymph node in the lung differ from treating a lung metastasis? Is it the same approach? If it is, I would say that you should indeed look into cryoablation, which seems to be working well for solitary lung mets. Keep us posted on what you find out!

Thank you, DE,
I've been telling them for 2 yrs that node has got to be a met becuase CEA has always been high.
Onto 2nd-3rd opinions to find someone to get this thing out to look at it under the microscope!

I hope you can find someone who will biopsy so you can find out for certain.

Without being up to date on various options with hi-tech VATS flavors now, I would favor surgical biopsy - whole removal.
Both for the extra cancer and cellular information, some certainties, with potentially curative surgery.
At least locally, since beach sunrise uses a potent daily treatment beyond ADAPT+++, that has potential advantages against new seeds circulating.
Since my wife had a large conglomerated LN mass to deal with, over 14x above minimum for our sample half, the post doc lab owner commented that it was pretty beat up chemowise (daily UFT+++) but enough survivor cells to do kill tests.

10-12 years ago liver/lung ablations here were really pallitive care, good for 1-4 tries and then usually SOL, lung ablation being more dicey.
I don't know their current batting averages.
What little information I saw from others showed that ablation drove the inflammation and cancer markers wild and frequently recurred.

Many experienced hands here recognize the problem to find, and get, the true best techniques. Like Rolle's laser lung surgery in Germany 12 yrs ago, over VATS in US for numerous mets that would be inoperable in the US. The other problem is that surgeons often dismiss conditions as inoperable because they don't recognize advanced treatment efforts beyond their training e.g. we took pains to stop new LN mets via daily tx with extra aggressive chemistry and so we worried less about other met sites frustrating the benefit of a locally curative surgery. So when our 2nd surgery surgeon panicked over the metastatic nature of the conglomerated LN removed, we were less concerned because of the demonstrated daily chemo, hell or high water.
watchful, active researcher and caregiver for stage IVb/c CC. surgeries 4/10 sigmoid etc & 5/11 para-aortic LN cluster; 8 yrs immuno-Chemo for mCRC; now no chemo
most of 2010 Life Extension recommendations and possibilities + more, some (much) higher, peaking ~2011-12, taper chemo to almost nothing mid 2018, IV C-->2021. Now supplements

Thank you everyone!
Yes. Thank goodness I am on a very potent regiment of ADAPT+++ (Rx's and naturals)! It has gotten me 2 1/2 yrs free and clear with no side effects at all.
PET/CT scheduled in 10 days to get a better understanding of what I am dealing with as far as lung node goes. I let them know I am interested in whole biopsy and need more info from thoracic surgeon on his knowledge and experience with performing it.
Oncologist appt next week then powwow again after PET/CT scan for a plan. Then appt with ND for a plan also.
Rp, your wife still amazes me how determined she was to beat stage IV and did with mild chemo/naturals and 2 surgeries. What a testiment to defeating cancer!
