I actually just opened this thread, only because I get notifications because I posted to it three years ago.
Just 'celebrated' 10 years from my cancer diagnosis and right now, unlike ten years ago, I am enjoying my 4th of July week vacation. Ten years ago, I was miserable, crying and all around very unhappy.
Getting along just fine. Very few issues to speak of.

As of today, six years in remission (T4bN0M0).

Tomorrow I will be starting my 7th year -- and it seems to me that this would be a good time for me to think about going on sabbatical ... :D :D :D

I would like to spend some time now organizing my travel photos and creating proper photo albums. I want my family to have good memories of these last 6 years.

My husband is just under 8 years out from surgery. He did 12 hits of folfox. Doing very well with very few side effects remaining from the surgery and chemo. His official stage was IIbT4a.

I am meeting with my surgeon tomorrow (getting all my post-neoadjuvant scans THIS AFTERNOON!) and was searching for posts from O Stoma Mia (because she is so knowledgeable and has provided me with so much info this past 8 months that I am now appreciating more than ever) and I happened upon this post.

I admit, I am not as active on this board as I'd like, but I am sad that I missed her "Peace Out" post. Is she truly retired from the board? (She deserves it - so not judging - just confirming.) THANK YOU, O STOMA MIA! WE WILL MISS YOU!

Thought I'd stop by and add my 2-cents worth. 10 years NED. Lost my dear husband 5 years ago, and my mother 1 year ago so now it's just me and my little dog. Grateful for all the years we had and even grateful for all the not-so-nice treatments that I had. Peripheral neuropathy is still an issue for me. Hate to tell you newbies that. I think they are finding that 8 FOLFOX is enough to maximize benefits and minimize side effects. Had 10 rounds of full FOLFOX and then just one more 5FU. But it's just a part of my life now....it's just in my toes. I spray them every night with OTC Aspercreme w/lidocaine. Takes the "buzz" out of them so that I can get to sleep. But I'm still working part-time/teaching online. Keeps me busy and I don't need to get dressed and go anywhere.

Hang in there everyone and take one day at a time. Live in the present and be grateful for every day you get to look out the window in this life.

Just dropping by to say that this week will mark the beginning of my 10th year in remission. I just finished nine years with CT scans clear and CEA always hovering around 1.5 ng/mL. This year my follow-up 5-year colonoscopy was a "virtual colonoscopy" because I'm too old to have the ordinary kind.

I just got my Covid passport updated, so now I'm all set to leave on another extended vacation!!

Meanwhile, y'all take care and keep safe !
