Quick update - it's been 7 years today...

Postby claudine » Tue Apr 01, 2025 3:57 pm

... That DH was diagnosed with stage 4 CRC, mets in his lumbar spine, no primary (it surfaced several years later in the rectum). He's still here, still fighting, still on Xeloda + Avastin (3000mg Xeloda each day for 7 days then a week off, Avastin infusion every other week). CEA is slowly creeping up (lowest was around 6.8 last summer, now back at 10.3) but scan last week didn't show anything new (the "usual" mix of lytic and necrotic cells in L3 and L4). So we've got another 3 months of "normalcy". Did a great family vacay on Maui mid March, planning our summer in France... Life is not what it used to be, but it goes on!

Thanks ladies! They say that aging isn't for the faint of heart, but cancer is really up there, too. Keep on fighting! I don't post very often nowadays but I peep in once in a while and it makes me happy to see familiar names, still with us, still forging ahead :)

Congrats to you and your husband for keeping on fighting.
It is eight years for me now and the treatment regimen that I am on is fairly similar to your husband's.

Let us hope that some new treatment option will come up and we can enjoy some more beautiful time in this planet

8/17: MRI - no evidence of tumor, no surgery, starts wait and watch
8/17 to 12/17: Folfox
8/19 VATS - 1cm lung nodule
7/21- Clean CT, CEA 15.6 !
8/21- PET , biopsy finds met in abdomen
10/21- Surgery , 12 rounds of FOLFIRI -ended 4/22
4/22 to 1/23- Clean scan, normal CEA
10/23- four sub-centimeter lung nodules, on Xeloda
