New trial kras inhibitor

Postby Markdale » Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:12 pm

I’m starting a new trial that inhibits the kras mutation. This is a pan kras inhibitor so works on all the variations of kras mutations. The oncologist said there has been some success in other cancers that involve the kras mutation like pancreatic and lung cancer. Hopefully it shrinks the cancer and eventually destroys it but I’ll be happy if it just stops it growing for a while.
Side effects are the usual gi issues and potential liver abnormalities.

1/1/21 thoracotomy 1 met removed

Hi Marks, thank for the info.
May I ask you more which mutation you have? do you know which drug or molecule is being trialed ? Did they mention eithe sotorasib or adagrasib?

Hoping it works for you!
Thank you, Best Regards

Great you found this kRAS inhibitor and I so hope the best for you. Please keep us updated as this is probably the first for kRAS.
To combat kRAS I have only found IV vitamin C, Cordyceps and shikonin (TCM).

The drug is called bgb-53038 made by beigene. My mutation is kras g12v, I read it’s one of the worst to have in regards to overall survival and recurrence. This drug is a pan kras inhibitor so it inhibits all the kras mutations. They did mention mention that drug but it only inhibits the kras g12c variation which I don’t have.

I’m always I’m impressed beach by your knowledge and treatment plans.

Hey Mark,

If you don’t mind me asking, where are you based? In the states?
Also, I see from your signature you had some chest nodes radiated. How many were involved?

Many thanks in advance for sharing!

Hi Bianca, I’m in Melbourne Australia. There were 2 lymph nodes in the chest that had radiation, unfortunately it didn’t work as they were still avid on the the next pet scan. After 3 months of chemo they were no longer avid on the pet scan.

Mark,

How is the drug trial going? I hope you are doing well with it and not experiencing too many harsh symptoms. I wish you the very best of luck and hope this drug works for you.

Hi Paige,
It’s been about 2 weeks since I started and side effects are very minor just had one bout of diarrhea and some nausea and lethargy, nothing compared to chemo. I think the hardest thing is I have to fast 2 hours before taking the tablets and one hour after.

I haven’t noticed any difference in the lymph nodes I can feel in my neck but hopefully it’s just too early to feel any difference. I have a ct scan in 2 months and will update when I get the results

I have been thinking about you! I am happy for you that it is not a harsh side effect treatment. Thank you for the update.

Fingers crossed for you Marksdale, thank you for being on the frontlines for all the cancer patients with that stupid Kras mutation! Do keep us posted, and I really hope you see those lymph nodes resorb at the next scan (we need a "fingers and toes crossed" emoji!)

Had a ct scan to track the Mets while on the trial drug. In the 2 that are being tracked they grew approx 2mm each in 2 months one is 4cm the other 1 cm. They are classing it as stable but my cea continues to rise.
Feels like it has slowed the growth if I compare to previous scan. I told them I’ll continue on it just because there’s are limited side effects. Not sure what I can do next
