Nearly 16 years

Postby michelle c » Tue Feb 04, 2025 12:27 am

Hello everyone,

I haven’t been here for a while but I just wanted to post a message of hope. I know how important they are, especially when first diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer (sigmoid) in May 2009 (can’t believe it was that long ago!)

I was so fearful at first, especially as we had three young children, but it does get better. There comes a time when it doesn’t consume you and you think about it less.

I had surgery and 12 chemo treatments.

My follow up consisted of yearly CT scans for five years and regular blood tests. My team did not want CT scans to be more often due to radiation and also because they are anxiety provoking - correct!!!

Sending my best wishes to you all xx
May 25 2009 Dx with CC (sigmoid colon) 2 days after my 44th b'day
CEA prior to surgery 4.7
Jun 3 2009 LAR - Stage III 3/10 lymph nodes
Jul 6 - Dec 10 2009 - 12 cycles FOLFIRI
Genetic testing - inconclusive for Lynch
Jul 2012 port removed & hernia repair
