HAI Pump

Postby 626Patient » Mon Oct 07, 2024 10:42 pm

Has anyone here experienced the HAI Pump ? Mum was just installed with one and we're not sure what to really expect!

I do not have personal knowledge, but one former member of this board, who went by the name of ginabewell, posted a ton of super detailed, well-written stuff about her experiences with the HAI pump. She ended up having great success with it, though there were some bumps along the way. She had one thread that chronicled her whole journey, I believe. I’m not great at searching this site, but you can search her name and her threads come up. You would then just have to do a little poking around to find the HAI pump material. There may be more efficient ways of searching that others can suggest, but this is what I came up with. I hope your mum has success as well!

[Edited to add: ginabewell’s “journey” thread was called “My CRC with liver mets journey.” If you search her name, find one of her posts, then click on her name, that will take you to her page, and this thread is linked at the bottom.]

Thanks all. May I ask how long you have been on the pump ? Any side effects ?

Sorry for the delayed response

My HAI pump was surgically installed early in May 2024. I have so far had it filled with 6 treatments of FUDR. The 6th is still going as I type this

Next CT scan is next week. Major scanxiety which brought me here.

I'm sure you'll be fine! Mum will have her 2nd treatment next week. Just got labs back. All liver enzymes are good with the exception of CEA.... reading prior to FUDR was around 255. After about one month its still stable at 255. We will take that but was hoping to see a drop in CEA. What was your experience like with the liver enzymes +CEA after the first 2 rounds?

My results are stable. My CEA was normal before the HAI pump and remain normal. My CA-19-9 test was normal but recently went just a little outside normal.

Hoping for better results than just stable.
