I was surprised to find no malignancy with either surgery--bowel rupture, colectomy, repair & colostomy, then reversal. The problem has been LARS. Granted, some have a lot more difficulty than I do, but I've been nearly housebound for about a year (reversal July 6, 2023). I'm an old guy (79), but otherwise healthy. No meds, except occasional ibuprofen. Considering enemas for LARS relief. What's helped most so far is low fiber, but I need to do more so I can become active again. Any recommendations are appreciated. Because I originally had an obstruction and a rupture, I really don't want to use anything constipating--hence no immodium. I am living without a fair amount of my colon, my sigmoid, ileocecal valve, part of my rectum. Thing move thru pretty fast once I eat, but since I actually gained weight after the surgeries, I'm not really that concerned about malnutrition. I do take vitamins, cook almost all my food, eat a decent diet, but there are times of uncontrollable diarrhea.
It seems from what I read that enemas may help. Advice?
