CT Scan today

Postby beach sunrise » Thu Sep 12, 2024 2:56 am

Well, had CT with contrast today and looks as I have 4 more lungs mets, small but there. Good grief!!! 2nd and 3rd opinions, here we go. Hopefully I can remain in the USA right now and not have to travel overseas if it is a possibility for surgery. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOWER NECK: Stable multinodular goiter with largest low-density nodule in the left thyroid
lobe, again 1.8 cm (series 2/image 18).
CHEST:
LUNGS / AIRWAYS / PLEURA: Trace biapical pleuroparenchymal scarring and mild to moderate upper
lobe-predominant emphysema. Multiple thin-walled interparenchymal cyst are perivascular or
demonstrate central vessels. Focal bronchiectasis in the inferior right upper lobe, not
significantly changed. Increased bronchial wall thickening and scattered mucus plugging of the
medial right lower lobe bronchi. Increased atelectasis is noted in the inferior lingula
Stable right upper lobe 5 mm nodule (series 2/image 48). Stable size of the 0.6 x 0.4 cm right
basilar nodule, however now with peripheral lucency (series 2/image 93). Slight interval
increase in size of the subpleural left upper lobe nodule, also with increased surrounding
nodular groundglass densities, now 7 mm (series 2/image 52), previously 5 mm (series 2/image
51). Stable left lower lobe 4 mm nodule adjacent to the major fissure (series 2/image 50).
LYMPH NODES: None enlarged.
CHEST WALL: No significant abnormality

Good grief !!! What a disastrous and unexpected CT scan! I feel sorry for you, given all of the work, research and travel that you have done over the past 5 years.

It looks to me like you're "between a rock and a hard place" right now. I really hope you can get good quality support from some 2nd and 3d opinions there.

Take care... We'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Beach, I second what Green Tea said. You are one of the most resourceful and resilient members of this forum, so I am sure you will form a good plan of action soon (another surgery, SBRT, various forms of ablation?)

Rooting for you!

Wow, this is upsetting news. However, I know you are tough and persistent. I am certain you will find a solution for a pathway forward.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Beach: Sorry to hear this, for sure! At least it seems very early in the disease process with these, so maybe you’ve got good time for options. Did you continue your ADAPT protocol throughout, or come off it after the laser surgery? That, of course, may influence your options going forward. I know you’ll explore all avenues and make an informed strategic call, and I wish you the best of fortune with that.

I had a nervous breakdown in August and a collapsed lung to boot. I am hoping the fissure and some other things resolve. I am still on the protocol I was with just 2 add-ons (TCM's)
I had been wondering why my cough didn't go away after HBOT. Researched it and found cancer patients that have had lung surgery are not advised to undergo HBOT and talk to your doctor. You all dig for as much research as you can and decide for yourself what is best. I should have not done HBOT 3 times but it was my decision. Appt with crc surgeon first. Not sure about appt with Germany but I sure hope they let me in.

I am MMS. I didn't see an H attached to it. Why? You got some research that might benefit?

Beach: No, I was just looking at your signature and it looked like you might have been MSI-H, so I thought I’d check. I misread it, I think.

I hope Germany lets you in as well. That seems like it may be a good approach for you. Maybe it helps that you’ve done it before?

That is really frustrating!! I am so sorry.

With the largest one at 7mm, some of these must have been visible on an earlier scan. Probably too small to officially mention then, but you can always look and estimate how fast they grew, and from there extrapolate when they first started. At some point they have to all show themselves.

If you end up returning to the German clinic, I strongly recommend shooting for late November to December. The Christmas markets are very nice. January - March OTOH is just wet and gloomy.

Sorry Beach, one more question: Why do you believe the stable nodules are mets? Presumably because they are “stable,” they were there on prior scans. Do they have a history? From the other findings, it looks like you were a smoker at some point, and as I’m sure you know, nodules are very common in smokers and former smokers. Am I missing something there? (I don’t know what the “lucency” finding indicates, if anything, btw—just not familiar with that.)

beach_sunrise,

Sorry to hear about the scan report and your mental state. However I do not see it as a bad report because the word 'stable' is used with reference to all your nodule listings except one which had a 'slight interval increase'.

As far as I understand, 'stable' means that these nodules were present in the previous scan. Their lack of growth is a positive news.

Instead of this report, you could have had a situation where all nodules exhbited growth (that is what I heard last week about my lung nodules. Sniffle, sniffle).

One of your stable thyroid nodules is over 1.8cm. Since that is over 1 cm, it might qualify you to be assessed at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, US. Some users like @sleen were cured by the team there using targeted therapy.

Thanks,
skb
