Colon Camp 2025 (Cleveland, Ohio) -- Is it really going to happen?

Postby O Stoma Mia » Mon Aug 05, 2024 6:29 am

According to various recent announcements, there will be no Colon Camp this summer (2024), but there should be a Colon Camp sometime next June in Cleveland, Ohio.

Colon Club Members who might be interested in applying for this event should mark their calendars for JUNE 2025 and be alert for the announcement of application deadlines for this event.

Colon Camp

In order to grow the number of advocates raising awareness, we select a diverse group of people searching for their voice to attend a retreat and photo shoot (lovingly referred to as COLON CAMP). Our featured survivors/caregivers have the opportunity to connect with others, become strong advocates for colorectal cancer, and help raise awareness about The Colon Club’s resources and projects. They become the voices and faces for young CRC survivors.

As we forge into a new era, we’re excited to introduce you to the new COLON CAMP. This evolution retains the soul and spirit of the original Colon Club while focusing on the healing, bonding, and strength that come from shared experiences. We believe in the transformative power of community. Our next camp will be in June 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio.

We are not accepting applications at this time.

Interested applicants might keep an eye open for an announcement here on Colon Talk, or perhaps on social media (e.g.,Instagram). It woud be a message of the following type announcing the opening of applications for the upcoming June 2025 Colon Camp event:

NOTE: If you want to get an idea of the typical kinds of requirements for Colon Camp applications, you can read the 2018 requirements in the link below. Keep in mind that the requirements change somewhat from year to year, so you would need to check on the new requirements once they have been posted on the FightCRC website.

TIP:
If you want to get late-breaking news on the up-coming Colon Camp, you could start by going to the FightCRC website and using their Search function with the keyword "Retreat". I think this would probably take you to the web page where the new application requirements and new application form will eventually be posted. But I have no idea when they might actually get around to opening the application process.

UPDATE: Here is the latest Colon Club update as it appears on the FightCRC website. Please note the new age limit for Colon Camp participation:

The Colon Club: Follow and engage with us on Instagram as we post tips, advice, and stories. Check out the Kimberly Fund: a grant program for children of parents who face colorectal cancer. And—apply to attend Colon Camp if you’re interested in our health and wellness event for those age 39 and younger.
