Colonoscopy Report - Paris and Kudo

Postby Lemonpie77 » Sat Aug 03, 2024 1:34 pm

Can anyone tell me if I should be worrying?
I’m nearly 47, 2 stone overweight, non-drinker and non-smoker. I eat a reasonable diet but not enough fibre.

Am very symptomatic and has a positive FIT test of 12.9… very low. Referred for 28 day pathway colonoscopy. They removed a 12mm sessile polyp using EMR. They also took 8 photos and another 4 biopsies from my asc and desc colon. All 5 samples have got on for testing. The Paris score for the polyp was 1s and the Kudo was III-L.
It also says WHO Grade 1 on the report.

The endoscopist did not say, “you don’t have cancer.” She said, “We removed a small polyp, no diverticulitis
and otherwise your bowel is healthy.”

Why would they do 4 other biopsies if healthy?
I’m worried.

Have you seen this article?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. That’s a very helpful article. From what I read, this means I might have had a precancerous sessile polyp in my caecum.
I’m just concerned because they took 4 other biopsies. Why would they do that if my bowel looked otherwise normal? I’m confused and anxious.

Thanks.

How would they know it is healthy WITHOUT having done those biopsies ????
Biopsies "LOOK" at a microscopic view and the submucosal levels of tissue.
"Visual" inspections do not.

" You will miss more for NOT LOOKING ... than not knowing " is my favorite saying.
I would much rather have the docs LOOKING ... than missing something for NOT looking

JMO and I have been here since 2008
So it must be working

Best wishes to you

Hi CRguy,

I agree with you and I’d absolutely rather know one way or another. I do wish that they had explained a bit more but I was still quite out of it at the end of the colonoscopy.

Really thankful to benefit from your knowledge.

Thanks.

Another point to consider:

Since they found and removed a polyp this time around they will no doubt schedule a follow-up colonoscopy in just a couple of years to check if there are any new polyps or whether there has been any new re-growth where the sessile polyp was removed. This is normal procedure.

Did they tell you when you should come back for a follow-up colonoscopy?

Also. to minimize the possibility of new polyps appearing, I think it would be important to think about adjusting your life-style habits by trying to lose some weight and then by following the Three Pillars of Survivorship:
