Duke Cancer Center

Postby rdavis12 » Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:07 am

I used Duke for my treatment of stage 3 rectal cancer and am now in follow up, my opinion of them is so so they are well known for being experts in the field but my experience had good and bad so far anyone else use this center.
Staged T3N1MO at diagnosis 4-23
After TME surgery pathology staged T3NOMO 0/14 nodes involved only other thing on report was Perineural Invasion Present.
6 weeks Radiation Duke
4 mos Capox
CEA-4.7 at Diagnosis
1.8 after Chemo
12-5 LAR surgery
5-4 neg CT CEA 0.9.
Currently in surveillance.

When you say that your opinion of Duke Cancer Center is only "so-so" , could you be more specific?

In what ways could your experience with Duke have been better?

I guess it wasn’t they did anything wrong I was just totally destroyed by the initial diagnosis that I didn’t feel like they cared or understood what I was going through mentally. They kind of treated me like a number I guess.
