If so if can be drained for her comfort (thoracentesis), sometimes along with a procedure to reduce the risk of it recurring (pleurodesis).

Thank you. I gave her the info. She says that there is a small nodular thickening in the both of the lower lobes. She believes that's cancer? There are areas called ground glass opacities. One of them tested positive for adenocarcinoma. And than she had the met removed that ended up being 1 cm.

I spoke to my friend to have more clear understanding. She has had clouds in her lung since diagnoses 4 years ago with a solitary met. She was told that it's normal and stable. In the clouds she has many (not sure number) so let's say multiple ground glass opacities. She has been on low dose chemo last 4 years. And just recently had resected 1 cm lung met. But near this met was a ground opacity that also tested positive for colon cancer. Anybody has had this? Now she is worried all the others are cancer as well. She will have to start systematic chemo treatment. Not sure which one. She did folfox / folfiri 4 years ago. But didn't have a great response on her solitary liver met that was fully resected. She lives in Greece. Her med team is very pessimistic. Told her max 3 years to live. It upsets me. Nobody should be told expiration unless asked. She has a young daughter and no other family.

One of my mets confirmed was described as ground glass opacity. So, after lung surgeon consults here in the USA blew me off in favor of chemo "to see what happens" I contacted The Lung Hospital in Coswig Germany and was a candidate for Rolles Laser lung surgery. 3 of 4 small "spots" including the ground glass were mets, one was a macrophage.

My surgeon was Dr. Kern. He was fantastic, very experienced and knowledgable surgeon. His bedside manner is second to none. He has the longest white coat of any specialist I have ever seen.
I met all of them and I would request Dr. Kern if I had to go back.
