Working with Cancer campaign launching today

Postby ginabeewell » Thu Jan 12, 2023 11:02 pm

Hi all,

So many of you have weighed in on a cancer-related project that I've been focused on at work, and I'm so excited to share that it is finally going to be launching next week.

If things go well (and every appendage I have is crossed like twice at this point) you should be reading about it in the news the morning of the 17th - and it should be good news for every cancer patient who is Working With Cancer.

Once I can share materials - Tuesday morning - I am really hopeful that many of you will join me in sharing them on social media, and in particular during the first week or two of launch, on LinkedIn. We are trying to build "positive peer pressure" for companies to do the right thing to support cancer patients in the workplace - and if the last few days are any indication, I think it's going to work. But it's going to take a groundswell of activity to make it happen.

If you're interested in knowing more, you can DM me here. Or please connect with me on LinkedIn - Gina Jacobson - with a note to let me know you're from this forum (I get hundreds of connect requests from people who want to sell me things, so I want to make sure I know who you are!). I'll be posting on LinkedIn as soon as I am allowed to post on Tuesday morning, and the more people who share my post with their own words of support, the more likely our message will be to scale quickly.

Those of us who work in marketing know how much work it takes for something to "go viral." But I can honestly say that in my almost 30-year career in advertising, this is the first initiative I have ever been a part of that feels like it has potential to drive true and scaled positive change. That this will happen to benefit cancer patients is an incredible bonus.

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT! LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

Today is the launch of Working with Cancer, and we are trying to get patients and caretakers who are comfortable posting about the initiative on social media (does not have to include anything personal).

Here is a link to the spot that is launching the campaign if you'd like to check it out and/or share it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgn1onW7fV8&t=4s

We are also asking early supporters to post a link to the website on social media: workingwithcancerpledge.com

The team worked hard to secure earned press coverage, and the news is also starting to spread on social media, specifically on LinkedIn.

This first phase is focused on reaching the C-suite who have influence at their companies to change policies and programs; our own company is now guaranteeing employment for at least one year - and a recurrence triggers the start of another year. We'll have a second phase beginning on January 31st that is more focused on mass awareness. When you start to see this out in the world (if you live in the US, UK, or France), you'll know that this group played a role in making it happen!
