Memorial sloan watch and wait predictor

Postby MadMed » Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:08 am

MSK has just published a tool to help with watch-and-wait or not. The actual study is here:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36173634/

It's not huge numbers, so the prediction is going to be adjusted over time like their other tools. But this should start giving the tools to decide whether to W&W or go for surgery.
Also, there's a big caveat, this is after TNT with a robust surveillance program. Otherwise the numbers don't hold.

The calculator link: https://www.mskcc.org/nomograms/colorec ... rgery_wait it gives DFS odds.

Thanks for this head's up.

I believe ALL the info and brain work we can throw at CRC ( and all cancers for that matter )
will only help to move our treatment success rates forward, diagnostics forward and preventives forward.

Just another small part of the puzzle ... BUTT
we have to keep looking at it ALL !!!

Cheers
