Your situation is quite similar to my husband's - he also had ULAR with tumor 4cm from AV, and a lot of post-surgery complications (acute kidney failure, guts "seizing up") which kept him in the hospital for almost 3 weeks! But eventually it all settled down and his ileostomy has been working well, he's been able to eat pretty much anything (after a period of adjustment of course), travel, etc. We learned this morning that there's no leak at the anastomosis site, so he will undergo reversal on September 5th.
Hang in there!

Thank you Claudine. I met someone here who had reversal on August 4 and she was home in less than 48 hours and really doing well at home. Wish you all the luck for September surgery for your husband.

That gives me hope. Currently on 3 antibiotics. If my Blood work look good tomorrow than I will be discharged on Saturday/Sunday. Otherwise they have to investigate further. Sick of being sick. Just wanted to go home.

Thank you! We are bracing ourselves for a challenging Fall, as it is highly likely that DH will suffer from LARS, given that most of his rectum has been removed and he had adjuvant radiation, which tends to stiffen tissues. Fortunately he’ll be able to work from home.
I hope your problems are addressed by the antibiotics and you can go home soon, long stays in the hospital are no fun :|
