ASCO22

Postby MadMed » Mon Jun 06, 2022 12:02 pm

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference is on right now, lots of relevant topics. If you have twitter is suggest following https://twitter.com/OncoAlert
New today is the discussion on neoadjuvant chemo for colon cancer: https://twitter.com/manjuggm/status/153 ... 74/photo/3

That seems to be gathering steam, making for more R0 resection and less spread. ASCO is more than CRC but it is heartening to see lots of presentations and interest on CRC.

What I liked most about this ASCO presentation, was their titular word, "perioperative".
I could not discern how close to surgery they did "perioperative chemo", days or weeks.

I am big on perioperative, even more aggressive on perioperative since we could use many milder drugs and supplements up until NPO, 12-24 hours before surgery. My wife even did her double dose UFT chemo pills 24 hrs before surgery, so theoretically on chemo until 8-12 hours before surgery (daily chemo pills 2 - 1 - 1 about 8 hours apart, many people do 2 + 2 about 12 hours apart for convenience but my review was that 2-1-1 was better)

I really like the idea of no days off treatment for cancer cells.
watchful, active researcher and caregiver for stage IVb/c CC. surgeries 4/10 sigmoid etc & 5/11 para-aortic LN cluster; 8 yrs immuno-Chemo for mCRC; now no chemo
most of 2010 Life Extension recommendations and possibilities + more, some (much) higher, peaking ~2011-12, taper chemo to almost nothing mid 2018, IV C-->2021. Now supplements
