Liver SBRT/SABR tips?

Postby Rock_Robster » Thu Mar 24, 2022 11:10 pm

Hi all, looks like I’ll be lining up shortly for SABR/SBRT on 3 liver lesions; one ~35mm, the other 2 small (see my other thread for the drawn-out story…). Likely 3 fractions over 6 days.

My integrative doc has a complementary program to go alongside it, but am interested if folk have any experience/tips for handling treatment side effects? I did 25 fractions of pelvic IMRT a couple of years ago and I understand it’s considerably easier than that…

Thanks, Rob

I just had SBRT done on a suspected lung met in January, so I can’t say much about SBRT in the liver, but the lung version involved zero noticeable side effects for me. My only comment is that the breath holds (we did longer than the usual 20 s because I could do it and it reduced the number of fractions) took a little getting used to, good to practice with the machine, but it was a breeze. Nothing like the challenging course down below.

My main reason for posting was just to wish you well, though. So here goes: Good luck—I hope and trust it will obliterate the mets!

Hi rob, I had sabr to 2 lung nodules not long ago. I had a positioning appointment before the treatment date where they positioned me on something like a bean bag and sucked all the air out. They also put 4 little tattoos so they can reposition the exact same way for treatment. I had no after effect from treatment. The follow up cut showed scarring at the nodules. I think I read that nausea can be a problem after radiation to the liver, but I’m guessing that compared to chemo it’ll be nothing. Hope it goes well for you.

Hi Rob,

I was following your other thread. I was out of the loop for a few months. Somehow this site has been the best thing for me, and other times when I come here all the dark times come rushing back, and it does a number on my emotions.

But I’m back because, like in your situation, DH has what seems to be a recurrence. As far as I know it didn’t metastasize, and the rectal surgeon seems quite optimistic.

So I went back to reviewing the supplements we’ve been taking and also noticed you are open to including supplements in your regimen.

Here is a pretty recent article about IP-6 + Inositol: https://anticancer360.com/ip-6-inositol ... e-effects/

I was kind of late finding out about it, but after reviewing our supplements again, we’ve come back to it. There is also research about Tagamet (cimetidine) that seems promising.

I just wanted to pass that information along to you. Wishing you the best.
