Amplifying the Patient Voice

Postby Maggie Nell » Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:22 am

Australians living with, or at risk of, young-onset bowel cancer often encounter obstacles in accessing timely referral and diagnosis. Furthermore, patients diagnosed with bowel cancer under age 50 face unique physical, emotional, and psychosocial challenges ranging from fertility issues, sexual dysfunction and neuropathy to anxiety and depression, relationship breakdowns, job insecurity and debt. And because young-onset bowel cancer is frequently diagnosed at a later stage, treatment options are limited and outcomes poorer.
