Have to admit to mixed feelings.

If treatment is an eventuality, let’s get on with the getting on.

If immuno/radiation can get me to remission/NED, let’s do it yesterday.

At the same time, no treatment life is quite nice.
11/19: colonoscopy
12/19: diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer 6+cm tumor
1-3/20: 20 sessions of radiation, mon-fri capecetibine+clinical trial drug m3814
7/20: 8 treatmentsFOLFOX
11/20: Primary tumor had complete response. Possible tumor deposits on latest mri. Biopsy negative for cancer.
5/21: Multiple lung nodules (3-6mm) on ct scan
10/21: md anderson gives me 1 year without treatment/3 years with folfiri/avastin (refused)
3/22 Will begin immunotherapy/sbrt at weill cornell and nyu/langone in march

I agree, but it seems you have a good doc, i always question the rationale for a treatment or procedure, you seem to have a good path forward. Take the break for the holidays and come back even more determined to kick this things butt

May God bless and heal you too, madmed.

Hoping your procedure is a success.

Am I naive to hope for remission from these treatments?

Current weight is stable at 192 (up from an intentional low of 135 to put body into a deep, deep state of ketosis)

Asymptomatic

Bloods are good

Just a boatload of sub centimeter mets in lungs.

Really wondrering if I may only have a couple Christmas left ☹️

The holidays are rough in our situation. I was just saying yesterday, i wonder if i'll be around next christmas.

Naive or not, i think it's important to have hope. If a doctor is willing to do the work, then there's possibility. I respect your no chemo decision, as rough as FOLFIRINOX was, i am not sure i would turn down chemo. We all know what we want and is better for us.

My thinking, is one step at a time. You are here and alive, you're still in this fight and have tools. There's vaccines being trialed. I know there's been hope in treatment in the past, but it seems that we are close to an inflection point in cancer treatment. It would be a shame to give in now.

Sorry about the rambling. Emotionally, i'm also in that place. This is the best way I rationalize it for me. Hope it gives you something to think about.

There’s a bit of “what’s the point” from my perspective other than the fact that you have to run out the grounder to second base, as hard as you can. No matter what.

That’s how I’m wired.

The fact that I am here and doing as well as I appear is a miracle.

My love left me.

I’m all alone.

Outwardly, I look fine.

Cant meet anyone in good faith with an unknown shelf life, not that I want to.

Sucks, man.

It’s a tough time of year when you are in treatment .
But hope is powerful .
I will be thinking of you and holding out for good results in 2022 .

I think we're wired much of the same way. I get it, but looking at it that way, there was never a point. It's a zero sum game.
Like you said, gotta run it down. When I was diagnosed I had a long call with someone i never met, she's stage 4, been through numerous cycles of chemo etc..
She told me to lean towards "yes", accept every opportunity, make plans, go out and be daring. Well, i got married last May, we made plans to go to Hawaii next fall. I got a new job during chemo. It was agony interviewing and got in a highly competitive company. We plan on moving and buying a house. It is kind of funny in a weird way, i may not be around for any of that but why not. Lean towards yes.

I keep thinking, the difference between me and someone healthy is they don't think of the end, i do.
