So I have been having bleeding and other severe symptoms for 5 months. The doctor was thinking it was colitis due to my age (37), but instead they found a 14mm bleeding sigmoid polyp that he thinks is only precancerous. The rest of the colonoscopy looked normal. I am now waiting on the pathology. I know there’s no way of knowing 100% until the report comes back and that I just need to be patient.. but I’m sure you know how the long wait can be! The doctor seemed pretty busy and didn’t exactly seem open to questions after the procedure.
My CBC blood results were definitely off. They think that most of the abnormal values on my CBC are insignificant because they aren’t super extreme. That part is frustrating because they’ve definitely changed a lot this time around with previous years of comparisons, but the doctor doesn’t think that’s important/relevant. I just have a strong feeling that something is wrong, but I don’t know if it’s related to this or something else is going on. I’m going back to my PCP once I get the pathology.
My questions are:
1. Do you know anyone that had significant symptoms from a single polyp but pathology came back clean? I haven’t really heard of a situation like this, so I’m pretty confused and curious.
2. If you have tested positive for cancer and showed an abnormal CBC, what were the main areas/values that were high/low before diagnosis?
Thank you so much for helping me!!
