Using restoralax/miralax more than once a day?

Postby DarknessEmbraced » Thu Aug 05, 2021 6:59 am

I've been using restoralax/miralax twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening because I have issues with constipation. Constipation can lead to ischemic colitis attacks which I've had before. I'm on my period so that may be why I'm experiencing more cramping, rectal pressure and having more bowel movements. I am having softer bowel movements. Has anyone else used restoralax/miralax more than once a day? I know on the bottle it says once a day. I can't stomach prune juice because the texture makes me gag and I know that milk of magnesium would do the same. Dulcolax gives me severe diarrhea even if I just take one pill. Metamucil causes severe bloating, gas and cramping so I can't take it either.

Miralax is not absorbed into the body so you can adjust the dose as needed. All it does is increase the amount of water in your stools to soften and make it easier to pass. I always use miralax to prepe for colonoscopies. I use an entire 2 week dose bottle in 64 oz of Gatorade.

Thanks KimT. My GI's office called and said it was fine to use it twice a day. I had to drink 4 L of colonoscopy prep when I prepped for a colonoscopy while hospitalized last month. I'm still waiting for biopsy results and found out it can take 3 weeks for results. I was hospitalized from July 14-July 21st. My GI's receptionist is on vacation next week and told me to call my family doctor if I have any issues. I definitely won't find out my biopsy results next week. My family doctor is no help with digestive issues.

I think restoralax/miralax is causing more cramping so I'm cutting back to only using it in the morning.
