Abdominal Pain Since last surgery

Postby Rikimaroo » Fri Jul 30, 2021 6:28 pm

My last surgery I did was open, not laparoscopic. Ever since that surgery 10/2019 I have had major abdominal pain, like spasms, waves. It goes and come. I saw a gastro and he prescribe dicyclomine and it has helped with the severe pains of the waves, but still get the pain. From all my scans I have dilated small distal bowel loops. Surgeons say that this happens alot with Abdominal Open surgery and since I am still passing stool and not getting obstructions they don't want to do more surgery. Does anyone else experience this after abdominal open surgery? Any recommendations on how to deal with it. I take GASx to see if it helps, but really doesn't. The pain use to not happen this often but I get it every day now, before it was once every 2 weeks, or if I ate too much food etc...

I would get the wave of pain then a whole bunch of gurgling noises.

It's confusing on how to stop this from happening, I though about fasting to see if that would help.

Please let me know if anyone else experience this.

Thanks,
Rikimaroo

Do you take pre/pro/post biotics? They help to balance your gut biome and that in turn helps heal your colon.
Like you I was fish gutted from breast bone to pelvic bone. Everything laid out and even flipped my liver looking for cancer. I knew I needed alot of extra things to help heal my insides after such an invasive surgery. I also take IVC which heals you from the inside out.

I have not did you have similar Pains as me and did it help you? Dilating sister bowels mean there is some compressed area possibly from scar tissue. The pains are like waves when passing through those small bowels. Once it gets to large colon I am fine.

That’s what the surgeon said. She said no raw vegetables which I don’t eat cause that causes major gas. My stomach gets distended as well. Post a link too the pro biotics you take from
Amazon and I will pick some up

It sucks but controllled somewhat.

I don't have any scar tissue. Bless you! I know you got to be miserable when the pains hit. I am glad you posted. I miss you when when you are a no show for so long :)
I've been taking this regime for over a year to strengthen/protect my guts inside and out.
Prebiotic is Acacia Fiber, Now brand (morning)
The probiotic I take is what my surgeon recommended. He runs a gut microbiome study clinic. The one he recommended is VSL#3 The Living Shield. Probiotic Medical Food, 112.5 billion bacteria per cap, the refrigerated kind (after supper)
Post biotic is Butyrate by Healus (before bed)

Thank you Beach. Yes sometimes I don't come on, I am so busy with work and life. I day trade and I also own an IT business, so just get swamped and try to live life and not think about cancer.

That's a lot of biotics LOL....I definitely going to pick them up. Need to figure something out. So far I am stable with the cancer, taken a six weeks break from my last treatment. I am doing 5FU/Avastin only now, instead of taking Xeloda pills. I told the doc the pills suck and I slack off on them, so the 5FU even though its a little rough, but not as bad as Irinotecan which I am not mixing with it. CEA last time was 9.6 from 16, so its downward trend which is good.

LOL. it is alot of biotics. Go big or go home :) HA
With CEA at 9.6 (YAY, congrats on the low CEA) I think you are in prime position for add ons to keep it low in order to stay stable below the double digit threshold.
Ivermectin might be a good add on to keep synergizing the chemo for optimum cancer kill plus it offers covid protection.
Just a thought.
