Just wanting to chat with people who understand

Postby JenR » Wed Jul 21, 2021 5:49 pm

I was diagnosed in January, 42 year old female, stage 4 metastasized to liver. Been doing folfox chemo, going to my 11th treatment soon. They found 2 nodules in my lung, but said they were fairly small and nothing to worry about. This stuff is scary and I don’t know anyone who has been through it so I am just reaching out to connect, hear other people’s experiences, etc.

Welcome to the forum!

Here are some Stage 4 patient profiles for you to look at, if you are interested. You can scan the signatures to look for liver and/or lung involvement. Most of these people are still around and log in here from time to time.

Here are some patient profiles for people who had lung nodules of one kind or another:

Jen,
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I went through colorectal diagnosis in 2017, got a lung met in 2019 and now my CEA is high again.

One in every two Americans will get a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. SO this is becoming common.

Treatments are always improving. There are many stage 4 survivors here.

I hope you get the best treatment and a long life
3/21/17: Dx T3N0M0-mid rectal 4.5cm
4/18 to 5/22/17: chemoradiation- Xeloda and daily radiation (25 doses)

8/17: MRI - no evidence of tumor, no surgery, starts wait and watch
8/17 to 12/17: Folfox
8/19 VATS - 1cm lung nodule
7/17/21- Clean CT, CEA 15.6 !

Have you had an appt with a board certified colorectal surgeon yet?
They can have tremendous input on what they need to see on scans/treatment to be ready for surgery so that you don't miss the opportunity.
My first onc never mentioned seeing a surgeon. It was only when I started digging for info that I found how important they are as part of the team from the beginning. For me it goes back to the saying "docs only sell what they can provide."

Wow, half of the population gets cancer. That’s crazy, I didn’t know that. I thank you for your sentiment. And I will pray the same for you!!
