issue that has come with the 4th cycle of Folfox

Postby Old_punk_rock_girl » Sat Jul 03, 2021 4:03 pm

For some background... I just took my 5th cycle of Folfox. On Tuesday after I came home with my chemo ball I had alittle irritated skin in my lower lady bits but nothing painful or swollen. I had my chemo ball for 48 hours, on Thursday it was removed. About an hour after having it removed my vagina went nuts. I'm swollen, irritated have lots of red ugly places that are raw to the touch. I called my oncologist and left a message about my symptoms but didn't receive a call back before they closed for the holiday weekend.

So for my question. Is this normal? How to treat it? I can't go to thier offices until Tuesday when they open back up I was hoping to avoid the ER but I'm in a bit of pain when I walk. Sitting or laying down I'm okay its only when I'm moving around that I feel its wrath. Any OTC meds I can get? Is taking showers and getting it wet a good thing? Please let me know if you had experience like this hiw to fix it. Thank you

Does your treatment center have an oncologist on-call that you could contact?

Just a guess, but this sounds like an infection. I assume you’re aware of the effects FOLFOX can have on the immune system, and it can build along the way. Unless you can rule an infection out somehow, I think the ER may be a good move here. I was a huge avoider of the ER in the height of the pandemic. Even waited out some post-surgical afib (self-diagnosed as POAF) once against on-call Dr.’s orders. But sometimes you just have to go. They will be able to figure it out and get it stabilized. Tuesday sounds like a long time to wait.

Waiting until Tuesday for the Oncs office to wake up = bullshit on their part ... just IMO
Getting medical attention for a problem you are having NOW = a smart move ! >>>> IME

SO ... I encourage you to make the smart move ... BUTT the choice is yours.

Best wishes on the Journey
