Great News!!!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share.

I was supposed to go for my 5 year colonoscopy last year, but, due to Covid, the doctors recommended I wait. Plus, I haven't had a really good physical since 2017, because the last time I went, my Mom passed away. I couldn't bring myself to make the 6 hour drive - for all the memories that would flood back. But I was ready to go back last year.

I was getting a bit nervous, because I've had some friends who delayed appointments and their cancer came back - so I knew I had to go - Covid or no Covid. If Covid didn't get me - my cancer could came back.

So when I went back this year - all the stars aligned. I was able to get my Covid shot and had my second one with more than two weeks to spare before my appt.

I booked my hotel in Feb "Hilton Garden Inn" for less than $70 a night.

My car is a 1995 Corolla, so I got a rental car for a week for $200.

So the drive there was beautiful!!! Sunny skies, leaves were green through the country - and a decked out car with a lot more bells and whistles then they had in 1995.

I was a bit worried about my prep - but I took down notes this year. I can't drink that much and usually throw it up. This year I threw up quite a bit. Normally water comes out at the end, but this time is was gatorade - so I was nervous. I think now that I'm getting older, it's harder for me to keep it down. I mean, it's been 17 years of this.

The PA took notes and wrote in my record to slow my drinking rate to 30 minutes for my next one. Yay!!

So I go in, and all is well!!! YAY!!! And I had a great prep to boot!!! YAY!!!

And then I had my slew of other appts!!! Blood work and everything looks great!!! YAY!!!!

And I'm going to turn 60 this year - with no complaints. I told myself when I was dx'd at 43 - that I looked forward to living and I would have no complaints about getting older. In Jan I was feeling a little funny about it, but I called my friends and let them know they needed to get me something this year for my birthday - even if it was just a birthday card in the mail.

So I'm looking forward to my 60th birthday!!! And better yet, My Mom and I were supposed to watch the Olympics together in 2020 - because it's in Tokyo, where my Mom is from. So they announced that the Olympics will take place the day after my birthday.... Well close enough!!! What a great year 2021 has turned out to be for me. Even more so when you consider I was only supposed to live for 6 months but I could have died at any minute!!!

Celebrate Life I say!!!

Yay me!!!

PS - Thanks for putting up with me and letting me brag about my good fortune!!!

Congratulations!! Positive news is always great to hear. Belated or early happy birthday. I had a colonoscopy in September and all was good. Since we were in the midst of the pandemic, masks were required. I always tell people that until they've been through a colonoscopy while wearing a mask, don't complain about how hard mask wearing is.
It's always good to hear from you.

I missed this when you posted it but so happy for you. For the next prep see if you can get Suprep. You have to drink so much less and I really had a good experience with it.
