Chemo advice

Postby worriedson714 » Fri May 07, 2021 12:00 pm

Dad's second opinion came back they likely think it's cancer to pending the biopsy it looks like he is headed back to chemo which is scary so I'm trying to focus on being prepared . The first time my dad had folfox we were so unprepared and it caused my dad alot of stress and I believe had alot to do with the fact that the chemo didn't work good . So I am looking for any advice on what to use to manage side effects mainly diaherra mouth sores and infection risk also ways to just help the chemo work better if there are ways for that . Also ways to help my dad keep eating and ways to help my dad mentally just feel the best he can basically advice on anything to make chemo easier for him.

Green Tea's links are very helpful but before you can really know how to manage side effects you have to know what the chemo will be and then which side effects the patient actually develops, since different people have different kinds and degrees of side effects. If it's FOLFIRI it has a somewhat different side-effects profile from FOLFOX (though there is overlap due to the 5FU they have in common, and generic effects of many chemo regimens like neutropenia).
D/H Dx 10/2019 RC age 61
