Here We Go Again....

Postby DocSavage » Sun May 02, 2021 5:56 pm

It's me again.

Everything had been going swimmingly. Just had a PET scan and poof - two mets in the right lobe - about 1.7cm or so. They did an ultrasound to see if they could be localized for an ablation but apparently I now have the liver Cherbourg goose and because of the chemo induced steatosis (fatty liver) they couldn't visualize the lesions.

So it was off the the MRI machine on Saturday and now the wait for results. We discussed the options but couldn't really come up with anything definite until the liver surgeon takes a gander (see what I did there) at the MRI. I could still be a candidate for a surgical ablation as opposed to a percutaneous ablation or it could be TACE or maybe even two wedge resections. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday it will all come clear.

For sure though it will be a chemo change - from Xeloda and Avastin to FOLFIRI most likely. I guess that means back on the pump every two weeks. I did hear that sometimes they use those pump balls so there is none of that clicking during the night.

Well, it could be worse.

Well unfortunately with cancer you can’t duck reality
I love your attitude though!
My husband had the ball thing when he was receiving Folfiri and that worked really well. I hope you get a good treatment protocol in place soon and get over this new hurdle. Fighting cancer may be akin to a marathon; I’d say it’s like a long steeplechase...

I had never heard of the "ball," sounds interesting. The clicking of my husband's pump is faint but the cats can hear it more easily than we can, and it tends to attract them at night. We keep it between us under the covers, but that was mostly to keep the tubing away from them (one of them will always attack a cord-like object).
