developed fecal incontinence or diarrhea

Postby pete305 » Sun May 02, 2021 11:04 am

almost 6 years post colon cancer/re-section with 2 liver ablations since then - and the associated 3 rounds of chemo. Doing well, no current elevated CEA but now have developed a form of fecal incontinence. Like diarrhea, it comes on suddenly and sometimes don't even know it's happening until after the fact. Have tried to associate the bouts with either a food or an activity, but cannot find any causal relationship. It's to the point where i cannot leave the house without fearing for the worst. Everything I read advises this might happen immediately post surgery, but i did not have this after surgery or after either of the ablations. This is all new. Anyone else have this? It's been going on for a few months. Thanks. Any suggestions?

My main suggestion is to see a doctor. If you've been released from an oncologist maybe try to get in to a gastroenterologist. What type of surgery did you originally have? Hemicolectomy?
