You wrote that you had a kidney tumor? I think you must have meant liver? I think that it is well worth pushing on the possibility of colon and liver resection now that the lung mets are "gone." IMHO you need to consult a surgeon regarding the resectability of your mets. Since you are starting a chemo break, this would be the perfect time. There are plenty of people out there who have had both colon and liver mets resected.

oops, you're right Liver, not Kidney.

This is something I will definitely bring up when I visit UCSF.
Perhaps they will have different advice to give on the topic.

Yep, that's exactly what it is... cut off the Oxaliplatin after round 9, finished [last] round 12 3 weeks ago and now get to see if the neuropathy magically goes away or not. Time will tell.

Congratulations on such a great response to FOLFOX. The neuropathy should fade though sometimes it never goes away completely, especially in the feet.

I hope you can get a second opinion on surgery. On the one hand, I understand where the oncological conventional wisdom comes from. Not clear it improves overall survival, statistically speaking. Surgery is traumatic. Etc. etc. Yet it has helped many and even cures some. And there's at least some evidence that playing whack-a-mole as much as possible may improve survival. Especially for you, since you responded so well to the chemo. It just seems plausible that getting as close as possible to NED would be beneficial.

Yes, always get second and third outside opinions for surgery. Research top surgeons and send your scans.

Regarding neuropathy, there is often a flare a month or two out. I certainly had it! :) After that it is likely to begin to fade. According to my original NP, what you are left with at 15-18 months is probably about what you will be left with permanently. In my case, only some very mild tingling on and off.
