Hi!! Yes, he finally came home on Wednesday :)
All tests on the heart were good, and he is doing IV antibiotics at home through his PICC....much easier than TPN, that’s for sure! He even went for his chemo (modified) on Thursday....we’re doing an all liquid diet for now because he’s nervous about this partial blockage....I’m making him high calorie, high protein smoothies and other good stuff.....so good to have him home!!
No more Avastin for now (in case of surgery), but what can you do??
Hoping to see a lower CEA and some shrinkage soon!!

So it's been only 23 days since my husband was released from the hospital and he's back in with another blockage :( The doctors have given him a few choices at this point:

1. another bypass (chemo delayed for at least a month)

2. a release valve that will allow him to drain in the event of a blockage (and continued TPN and continued chemo)

3. keep going the way he's been going (which doesn't really seem like much of an option)

Does anyone have experience with a second bypass surgery OR with this concept of a release valve to drain blockages??

I have zero experience with any of those choices, but it seems like #2 would be the way to go? I am imagining that thing that they put in cows for bloat....

I have small bowel obstructions from time to time due to scar tissue from surgery. Sometimes things are slow in the large intestine too. I've found that taking Slippery Elm and Nopalina daily improves flow. Some people take these two along with a dose of Miralax in the morning to keep things moving.

Waling or running may shake things up. Having strong abs may make it easier to push things out.

Eat more small meals instead of fewer large meals.

Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes will slow things down and he may not want to do that.
