Stage 3c

Postby nzjez » Sat Jan 19, 2019 10:03 pm

I was diagnosed stage 3c on 14th Nov '18, emergency resection on 19th Nov '18, Capox started 14th Dec '18.
I have developed a mild constant pain under my right rib over last week, very close to where my original tumor was. Any chance another tumor could come in this quick? Or more likely an adhesion?
Just nervous as this has all happened so fast and I had A LOT of lymph nodes affected 21 out of 47. Anyone else with numbers like this come out unscathed??? Looking for any advice for ways to improve odds or any positive stories to build some confidence. Thanks in advance :)
Male, Dx 39
Stage 4c (T3N2bM1c 21/47 LNs)
BRAF mutation KRAS wild type
2018-11 - Colon resection
2018-12 - CAPOX Chemo started
2019-03 Clear CT

2019-09 PET/CT found metastasis in peritoneal
2019-10 Laparoscopy found a single peri met, CRS/HIPEC option offered.
2019-11 CRS/HIPEC surgery 3 peri mets removed.

Hi nzjez,
My only advice is to live like a survivor . Take whatever treatment they recommend. Ask lots of questions, there are no stupid questions when you are seriously ill. Just my opinion , avoid smoking and drinking . Find a healthy diet you can live with and avoid excesses. I was dxed with very aggressive stage 3c when I was 48. I had surgery and a year of chemotherapy. On Tuesday 22nd of Jan I reach 21 years still cancer free. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and cancer free future. Ron.

I think it's unlikely to be a new tumour. Colon cancer is fairly slow-growing and it usually needs to be quite large before it causes pain. I would suggest you speak to your doctors about it though just to rule out any other issues, like liver or kidney problems.

Hi Ron.
Thanks for replying to my post :)
I'm definitely going to raise some more questions as I've got some nerves around this pain, and am hoping I can get nice answers.
I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to sort this, as I'm only 39 and have two young children to support. I'm eating as healthy as I possibly can, and regularly walking.
Well done mate for getting over 20 years! That honestly is amazing to hear for me, and I'm really happy for you! You've certainly given me a goal now :)
Take care Ron and enjoy the 22nd of Jan (that's my wife's birthday).

Yep the Dr thought similarly, and thought unlikely to be a colon tumor. Was concerned about a lung blood clot, but ruled it out after an examination. Doesn't think liver (mentioned recent bloods look all good) or lymphs either. Good that she thinks those are all good. It's a shame there are to be no tests or scans, as I'm now told really just to cope with the pain. They don't know, and is probably due to the surgery. It makes sense.
I'll just have to make sure doesn't get to intense, and be glad they don't think it's cancer :)

Thanks for posting that link - I hadn't viewed it before and it was really nice to read some positive outcomes
If I'm ever up north I'll check out the Falls - I'll try almost anything!
