Palpable colon

Postby Theodore » Mon Mar 05, 2018 3:40 pm

Hello everyone, over the last 7 years I have been suffering from mild to severe nausea. Usually the symptoms are the worst in the morning right after waking up. I immediately feel I am extremely nauseous. I also vomit when nausea gets really strong 2-3 times a month.

I can feel quite clearly my transverse colon in my abdomen. It feels tight/spastic? and it has been like that the whole time 7 years. I can palpate horizontal big mass above my navel. I can palpate it and when I tight my abdomen muscles or bend forward I can feel there is an obstruction right where my transverse colon is. I feel discomfort, no pain. The same feeling I have with where my Cecum colon is located. Again I can palpate big soft mass, no pain.

My nausea is just horrible, some days I can´t eat nor speak how nauseous I am for few hours. Other days I do not feel nauseous at all, yet still feel my transverse colon as a firm obstructing mass above my navel. I did not feel my colon at all before my nausea started. I believe those symptoms are connected and that my colon might be the cause of my nausea.

I am hoping it is ok to ask here as I believe there might be people who might be able to help me more than my GP who says that I am ok.

Thank you all for reading. Every help, suggestion or hint of what might be the cause of my nausea is greatly appreciated. :|

Remedies for nausea

Postby O Stoma Mia » Tue Mar 06, 2018 12:43 am

If your main problem is nausea, you might be able to get some relief by using a home remedy (see quote below). If your problem is due to some kind of food intolerance or food allergy (e.g., lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance) you might have to have special tests done to determine which kinds of foods you need to avoid. I think that a gastro-intestinal GI doctor would be the best kind of doctor to consult for this kind of problem. He may want to do a CT scan or a colonoscopy to look for the source of the problem.

If you don't yet have insurance approval for the meds you want to take, maybe you could look over the lists of home remedies for nausea/vomiting to see if there is anything there that might help:

Thank you for your reply. Yes my biggest problem is my constant nausea, sometimes stronger sometimes not that much, however almost constant..

I also suffer from extremely oily skin and excessive sweating, I think it might be connected.

I have already tried some home remedies to treat nausea such as ginger, chewing gums against motion sickness etc, however nothing helped.

The thing is my colon is really easily palpable both cecum and transverse colon. I noticed it pretty much at the same time when my health issues started.

I read quite a lot that colon might be palpable, mainly on the left side. Strange is, I can not palpate anything on the left but I am able to palpate cecum and transverse colon. Even when I tried 4 days long fasting I could still feel my colon in abdomen, like some obstruction. That is why I think it could have not been stool as I have not been eating for four days.. :?

Given what you have said, I think the best option for you is to find a good, qualified GI specialist who speaks your language, then you can explain in detail what the problem is and he/she should be able to select the tests and interventions necessary to determine a correct diagnosis.
