Poo question

Anybody out there have mustard/yellow poo? For the last couple weeks my poo has been a yellow color, which concerns me because bilirubin causes a yellow coloring of skin so it's not to far of a jump to think it could effect your poo color. My labs have all been good and so has my urinalysis. Maybe this is just a side effect of Folfir + avistin? Any ideas? I'll bring it up to my onc next week but I just wonder if it needs brought up now.
Thanks,
Teri

What is bilirubin level in your blood?
Do you have jaundice by any chance?

I believe the color has more to do with diet than liver. Mine is frequently that color and my liver numbers have been fine all along even with the liver Mets. Wouldn't hurt to have it checked though.

My bilirubin level was a .6 which is well within the norm of o.o -1.2 and I don't notice any jaundice of my skin or eyes. I don't believe it's diet either it's been consistently yellow for several weeks, everytime I go it's yellow. My diet is varied and the same as it's always been. I thought of the bilirubin level too but it's always whithin norm range.

Teri, I think the poop color associated with bilirubin trouble is clay colored - gray. All I could find about yellow poop (with normal numbers) was too much undigested fat. Are you seeing your doc this week?

Undigested fat sounds good. I think hubby's was green when it ended up being thrush (yeast infection)

Here's a video that discusses the meaning of different kinds of poo. Yellow poo is discussed at around four and a half minutes into the video.

What Your Poop Says About You

There is also a book that has a section on poo color (see below, pages 71-73). The section starts off with a discussion of Gilbert's syndrome, a genetic disorder that can affect digestion and poo color and then goes on to say:

Another possible cause of yellowish feces is problems with bacteria in the gut. If they are not working as they should, the familiar brown pigment will not be produced. Antibiotics or diarrhea can cause such an alteration in color.

Chemo seems to give me lots of diarrhea and interesting stools. Mine are often bright yellow for a few days on chemo. And I don't think I have seen brown for a couple of months now! The day it was pinkish I got worried until I remembered it was beet borscht for lunch.

I'm by far an expert on Pulmonary, stage 4, perhaps you should notify your team of doctors
