Scan Report

I had a scan last Friday. I got a preliminary report today that said "no evidence of new disease." I will see the doctor tomorrow to see if I have to continue Erbitux. Lately, I have been having a lot of joint pain. He had said he might let me have a break if the scan looked good. I think this counts as good. Just wanted to share some good news. I am so tired of chemo. Need a break! Take care and keep on fighting.

Thanks O Stoma Mia. Felt like I should share some good news. Seems like we have had not so good news on our board lately. So many others suffering with set backs. I felt a little reluctant to share, but needed to give hope. This is my second bout with Colon cancer. I hope I give someone some hope. I know I need hope on the hard days. Anyway, I am rambling. I'm with you on that. This board has had a lot of bad news recently and having some positive news does help out.
We are all in this fight together so I cheer when we get positive news, and feel the pain when it is bad.

So glad to read your good news! Now you can start making plans on how to enjoy a chemo break! How has the erbitux been for you overall?

I saw my oncologist and he agreed a break is needed since I am having joint pain/fatigue that I feel is causing quality of life issues for me. He will let me have a four month break, rescan and look at how things are going. I am so happy to give my body some time to heal. The two "things" in my lungs are stable and have not grown. We are praying that they are not cancerous. They have been noted on the last 3 scans. He thought it strange that I am having joint pain that is so troubling. He said he has never had a patient complain of that before. He did not think it was from the Erbitux. I am just glad for a break. I need it. Working full time and going through 5 surgeries plus 32 chemo treatments, I need a break. Praying the beast will remain quiet. I know as a stage 3 with second bout of cc, my odds are good for more cc to happen.

Overall the Erbitux has been very manageable. I took Folfri with the Erbitux. The Ironotican (sp) was hard, just had to learn how to manage the symptoms treatment to treatment. Folfox was the pits for me! I have not had a very bad rash. I have had very dry skin, some rash on my eyelids for a few treatments that was bothersome. Joint pain toward the end when I was just on Erbitux. I do not know for sure if it was the cumulative effect of finishing the treatments of FOLFRI in June and then continuing on with Erbitux. I am hoping you get some good/stable results with your chemo. Take care and keep us updated!
