swollen upper leg, outer thigh - scared

Hi Everyone,

I mentioned that 2 weeks ago Dick had a swollen foot. He had 2 ultra sounds and no blood clot was found. He had chemo this past week on Tuesday. Last night I noticed his foot was slightly swollen again. Tonight, after a very active day, his left upper thigh on the outside and a bit on the left groin is swollen and I am scared to pieces. My guess is they will scan him tomorrow. Please say prayers and hold us in your thoughts. It has been almost 5 years since diagnosis and almost continual treatment, about 95 rounds of chemo. I hate this.

Odema in legs can be caused by prolonged sitting or standing but as Dick's left leg is only affected I wonder if his veins/valves are not working as effectively as his right leg. Elevation is usually recommended but not necessarily in a recliner chair as this puts pressure on the calves. Shortness of breath could indicate a heart problem as fluid builds in the lungs also. I'm sure that his docs would have already eliminated this cause. Try not to worry, easier said that done I know, but sometimes a clear cause is not always found. I know that I'm not a doctor but it doesn't really sound like it is related to cancer. If you are worried, please contact his doctors, if anything, it might put your mind at rest.

Thank you for your support. Dick is scheduled for a scan next Friday. It does seem to go down with elevation so we will be doing that this weekend. That said, he plans on going fishing tomorrow too.
