For stage 2's Ned for how long?

I know we have a few threads on here for stage 3 and stage 4. I was curious to see how long people have been Ned for stage 2. According to some documents I've read, stage 2 can sometimes be worse than stage 3.

I have been Ned for 2 years and 10 months if you go by surgery! It was 3 years since diagnosis in April!

I have been NED since oct 2008...almost 5 yrs Have scope coming up next month but Onc. doesnt feel he needs to do another CT..mixed feelings about that one!

It will be NED 10 years since diagnosis this August for me! Nine years since surgery & completion of chemo. Knock on wood!

Stage IIA - diagnosed 6/06
Surgery 4/20/07 - 6 years ago.
Been NED ever since.

The stats that you are talking about apply to stage IIB - not necessarily all stage II
It is believed that the stats for stage IIB might be worse simply because many do not undergo chemo. It's not as cut and dry as saying stage II are worse.
Also an FYI .....IF you were going to have a recurrence, you are more likely to have one in the first two years. I believe it's somewhere in the vicinity of 80% of those occur in the first two years. THAT IS NOT SAYING THAT THERE IS AN 80% CHANCE OF RECURRENCE IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS. Simply put IF (again IF) you were going to have a recurrence, the first two years is the timeframe when it is most likely to occur. After that, the chances continue to drop. Also, generally speaking, the medical profession starts the clock ticking on NED status from the date of your last treatment....be it radiation, surgery or chemo....generally not just from surgery and definately NOT from dx.

However....you're still more than two years out from your last treatment (assuming it the FOLFOX in your signature). Even if you didn't start the FOLFOX until say September....I'm guessing you were done by the end of the calendar year 2010. That still puts you past that TWO YEAR mark. Smile....take a breath.....and go on living your life. I wish I had a crystal ball to tell you everything will be ok, but look at it this way....each and every day you get further and further away from your last chemo date is a better sign

surgery was on March 13, 2012 so 14 months NED. Though chemo ended in Nov so I say it's actually 6 months.

Stage 2B here.

I'm about 9.5 months NED from surgery, and 2 months from chemo. Since started chemo, I've had a CAT, MRI (both clean) and surgery (non CC-related - they looked around all my organs while in there and it's all good). I have another (hopefully last - repairing a hernia from my colectomy and again they'll root around and make sure everything's ok).

2 years 8 months here with surgery only. Have a great Aunt that had a resection in her 50's, she's now 92 and going strong.

Diagnosed October 2007 stage iia colon cancer near cecum. Resection only with 29 lymph nodes removed. No chemo. Last ct scan December 2012 clean. Done with ct's. Will see oncologist yearly now for blood work only! Yippee
