I was diagnosed November 2007. I have been cancer-free since the right lobe of my liver was removed in January 2009. After surgery I had 6 months of FOLFIRI plus Avastin in case there were any cancer cells left anywhere in my body. I've had scans every 6 months. Now I will have them once a year and we have discussed maybe only having a colonoscopy every three years and not having scans at all. I feel great.
Stage IV Colon Cancer 11/20/07:
3 small mets right lobe liver
colon resection 11/25/07
7 rounds chemo
3/14/2008-PET shows no evidence of active disease
1/07/2009-PET shows active 1.8cm liver tumor
1/20/2009-Right lobe of liver and gallbladder removed
NED!

foxy, from the cancer survivors network, is celebrating her 20th anniversary today ... she was diagnosed with stage IV on December 20th 1993 - for more about her story, check out the following link:

I hope this lifts up your spirits, my friends. Anything is possible.

Hi.
My mother is 4 1/2 years from diagnosis and goodness knows how long before that. :? All on twelve cycles of chemo. Quite amazing if you ask me. Not really sure if she could handle the amount of chemo you heros endure.
However her surgeons first liver resection patient is still alive. Twenty years later.

My Primary Care physician's Dad had stage 4 colon cancer with mets to his lung at the age of 39. He had a resection and a lobe of his lung removed. No chemo, no radiation. He passed away last year at the age of 85 due to complications of a fall. My PCP is the one who gave me no choice and told me You're 50. Colonoscopy time. I had no symptoms at all. His philosophy is that if he and his brother (his partner in the practice who was born shortly after his Dad's surgery) have to get them regularly, his patients need to share the fun! Anytime I was down, the doc's Dad gave me hope. I am hit my 5 year NED in November after a liver resection and HAI pump placement in November 2008.

Kathy
Stage 1- resection 9/ 05

I almost hesitate to post here, because there's no reason why I deserve to have better luck than so many others before me. However, in case it provides hope for anyone out there-

Last week marked four years since my initial Stage IV dx, with over half my liver cancerous, innumerable tumors. My liver has never been resected, yet I have been off all chemo for 18 months now, with no growth in the numerous calcified lesions in my liver since then. I am under no delusions that it will not probably come back someday, but until then I will enjoy every minute I have been given.

Someone has to beat the odds...why can't it be YOU!!! :)

Best wishes,
Chip
