Stricture Pain

Postby Tom Whelan » Thu Jul 07, 2011 4:02 am

Had my rectum removed in September 2010 (massive polyps) and replaced with J-pouch. Ileostomy reversal surgery was performed in December 2010. Have had difficult time with BM's. Awhile back I stopped taking all med's, immodium, stool softeners, etc., wanted my system to find out what is going to be the new "normal". Saw Doctor 1 week ago since I seemed to be stuck in pain and have a severe stricture, stool was getting thinner as time went on. Too much bleeding and healing caused scar tissue to start closing in. Had the ballon dilation done, helped for first few days but now its been a week and I'm in a lot of pain. Passing gas is even painful. I will need at least one more dilation but I don't know how long to expect this pain. It feels very raw. I thought I was going to see some light at the end of the tunnel but it sure doesn't seem that way now. Looking for advice, thanks, Tom.
