Re: New Member, newly diagnosed

Welcome! In October 2016, I was diagnosed with a cancerous cecum mass during my first colonoscopy screening. I had no symptoms and my blood work was pristine. With that said, I was in a fog for days....asking myself "How did this happen? I don't understand." After the biopsy confirmed the ...

Vitamin supplements during chemotherapy can interfere with treatment, increase risk of death

While most articles suggest this concern in Breast cancer, I thought it was worth sharing for all on chemo... "The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology stated that using these supplements during chemotherapy can not only interfere with the treatment but can also increase the ris...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Sorry, everyone for the delayed response. My scans and tests were clear so 2 years following surgery NED. My CEA was 0.9, which was new and some diverticulitis, but all the docs suggested I was doing quite well. No more colonoscopy follow ups for the next 5 years, which I find strange??? so will ge...

Re: Does CEA fluctuate in healthy individuals

My CEA fluctuates between 2.5 and 3.1. It has been this way for over 3 years. However, the normal range will depend on what type of CEA assay is used in the lab. I go to Lab Corp and they use the Roche assay...anything under 4.7 is normal. The Bayer assay has different ranges, which I think is anythi...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Hi all- I had my latest blood work and all seems well. Cea level is at 1.2 again and no anemia. Some pains every now and again in the liver, but hoping it’s nothing. I just made a friend with a an oncology/chemo pharmacist. She mentioned taking metformin and possibly oncoloplex. Anyone take these? ...

Re: CEA and scans

I was wondering when everyone else's oncologist does CEA and scans. They did my husbands CEA after his first chemo and it was 0.7 down from 4.7 at time of diagnosis. However, his oncologist said that they wont test again until after he is finished with chemo and I think she said he will have his fi...

Re: The 10 most obese states in the U.S.

Who knows, maybe it IS ... something in the water ???? Just sayin' Cheers all CRguy I have actually seriously wondered if it actually is something in the water. I was living in a rural part of Minnesota when I was diagnosed, and had zero risk factors (thin, athletic, plant-based diet). And two of m...

Re: What, besides, tumor burden causes elevated CEA?

A tooth abscess caused a sightly elevated CEA. Any inflammation or infection in the body can cause an elevated CEA. However, my onc said that you can take your CEA numerous times in one day and it will change.
