Re: 4 years

Siti, it is not "unfair" for you to discuss your feelings here, this is what the forum is for! believe me, I feel the same way at times. I feel extremely fortunate to have two healthy young adult children, and I do my best to live in the moment, but sometimes I can't help but grieve for th...

For what it’s worth, my husband failed Xelox but had great success with Folfiri :)

Nothing to add to all the good advice posted above, IM64 - your wife is lucky to have you on her side, it is like a second full time job dealing with this disease. I noticed that she's KRAS G12A, like my husband; it's not a very common mutation.
Wishing you the best XXXXX

Re: PET/CT tomorrow

for my mind heavy chemo means side effects and toxicity to my body. Lowering immune system and the other side effects that can be terribly unpleasant and may never fully recover. For sure. DH has permanent neuropathy in his feet from Xelox (which didn't even work!). IMHO if you can avoid heavy chem...

Re: Spinal met- hope needed

I'm so sorry about this recurrence, Luna18. As you can see in my signature, my husband has been fighting vertebrae mets from the start (that's how his cancer was diagnosed originally, intense back pain). His mets are in L3 and L4; he had SBRT on L4 in early 2019, and after his recent recurrence to L...

Re: When it rains...

Thank you! I wasn’t able to go to the onc meeting last week but from what DH said, he’s back on the routine 3-months check, except this time it’ll be a lumbar MRI instead of the usual CT scan; and a new PET in 6 months. We’ll see what 2023 brings, but we’re making lots of plans, you can’t let this d...

Re: PET/CT tomorrow

Looks like you’re always on top of things beach sunrise! I just wanted to add that my husband did Folfiri/Avastin for his many small lung nodules (I think the largest one was 5mm), he finished systemic chemo over 3 years ago and his lungs have been clear since, no recurrence there, so there’s someth...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Mmm I don't know about that; from all I've read, CEA tends to fluctuate a bit, and yours has always stayed below the "red flag" value (<3). Are you sure it's even meaningful for you? I would try to focus on the positive (the tumor is out!) and not worry too much about what seem to be small...

I'm sorry I can't provide any answer to your question, but I just wanted to say that I'm thrilled by the good results! I hope they stay that way forever and you can leave this all behind!

Re: When it rains...

Thanks guys! Utahgal7, I have been looking closely at Onvansertib for a while and indeed, it looks like my husband could be a candidate. Plus, Folfiri worked well for him and he hasn't developed a resistance to it yet. We're meeting with his onc on the 26, I will definitely bring it up!

Re: When it rains...

Here we are in 2023, nearing on 5 years since diagnosis. 2022 was rough for DH, with LAR surgery, ileostomy reversal, then recurrence in DH's L3/L4 vertebrae. But there were also great moments, including several fun trips. Two months after SBRT, he just had an MRI for his back and PET scan for upper...
