Re: A series of unfortunate events

Well, from my experience I wouldn't worry about the enlarged spleen. Chemo causes it, and it will almost certainly gradually shrink beck to a more normal size. I had it, and at one point I think it was bigger than yours. I was advised at that stage to avoid activities that were likely to cause hard ...

Re: Grieving my past life and no one understands

Go to Colontown on Facebook. There you will find a neighborhood of people in your age bracket to talk to, as well as a source of really excellent information about all colorectal cancer types, stages, and issues.

Re: Female Fertility Post Cancer/Chemo

Thank you, GreenLakeGirl, for administering a dose of reality. Positive stories do nothing to save anyone's fertility. Action does. I am constantly outraged by the lack of information given women about the effect of radiation, in particular, on their fertility and on their sex lives. I think it is m...

Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

TiredandTroubled, you still haven't said where the tumor is!! Surely by this point you know whether it is in your rectum or colon, or on the border. What kind of surgery are you having? It is virtually impossible for anyone to give you useful advice without even the most basic information. I'm sorry...

Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

So did the surgeon tell you where the mass is? Is it in the sigmoid colon or the rectum? If it is cancer, this is likely to make a significant difference in the treatment options you may end up considering, including your choice of surgeon. I agree with roadrunner regarding research. I'm another who...

So sorry to hear of your loss, and in the middle of COVID lockdown, too. That must have made everything even more difficult. I hope you have comfort and support from those around you.

Wow, going from Stage 1 in Dec to Stage 4 in July must have been a nasty shock. Glad your thoracic surgeon has a plan in place.

Re: Stage 4 Rectal Cancer 45yo Wonderful Woman

I'm so glad that she is responding to chemo! I had a mouth sore issue early on that resolved itself and never came back. If she hasn't already, she should only use a very soft toothbrush. If the mouth sore becomes an issue, there's something people call "magic mouthwash" that evidently hel...

Re: Better scans maybe

Wow, I had no idea that there were these issues about scanning machinery and software! I had heard a number of years ago that there were older, less effective mammography machines still in use, but that's it. One more thing to obsess about? Oy vey!

Damn, Gina, you have had a LOT of chemo. It would be so great to be done with it for a good long stretch, if not permanently!

Re: Care at a elite cancer center without traveling to it ?

My cancer center is associated with Dana Farber. Although my oncologist actually sent me there early on for a second opinion, we haven't needed to consult them again. If we did, I think remote consultation would be likely. Just send the scans and so forth.

Re: Unusual To Go From Zero To Nine Lung Nodules In 6 Months?

I'm sorry you had such bad radiation injuries.

If you don't mind telling us, did the treatment seem to help? So many people have nasty effects from radiation, but this is the first time I've seen this therapy mentioned.

Re: Unusual To Go From Zero To Nine Lung Nodules In 6 Months?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. I did hbot 2 hours a day, five days a week.

Why? If it was to treat some lung infection, that itself could have caused the lung nodules.

Re: New here

If you don't have a copy of the reports for the colonoscopy and scan, or online access to them, you should contact the doctors and get copies/access ASAP. Check and see if your GI has a patient portal. With that information in hand you can formulate good questions for the surgeon and for us, and do ...
