Re: For stage 2's Ned for how long?

Just dropping by to say that this week will mark the beginning of my 10th year in remission. I just finished nine years with CT scans clear and CEA always hovering around 1.5 ng/mL. This year my follow-up 5-year colonoscopy was a "virtual colonoscopy" because I'm too old to have the ordina...

... The doctor that was going to perform the ESD advised cancelling that procedure and is instead referring my mom to a multi-disciplinary rectal cancer clinic where it sounds like they may do additional scans I guess to also check for spread to distant lymph nodes. ... Thank you for any thoughts y...

Re: Help! Surgery Monday! What is this surgery?

After all your long and thoughtful replies...the surgery on my portal was a coding mistake. Just a sigmoid colectomy. I have no idea how they got it so wrong, but grateful that my surgeon called me to ease my mind. So relieved. Here's an interesting article that you might want to read: An article o...

Re: My first colostomy poo-splosion

Man. Cancer's bad enough without colostomy nastiness. My colostomy is named mrs. Wiggins after the carol Burnett character. I forgave her for that explosion. Usually she's very kind to me. And I'm very glad she does her job well. I'm going in for surgery the week of October 5th and the surgeon says...

Re: stage 4 with extensive lymph nodes involvement

@susanCT1 - In your case, I think it would be very important to monitor the level of side effects while on chemo, especially side effects like diarrhea, nausea, mouth sores, and peripheral neuropathy. This is because unexpected severe side effects can cause the chemo regimen to be abruptly stopped o...

Re: Help! Surgery Monday! What is this surgery?

Another question; does the surgery have 3 different names because it's 3 distinct procedures? Laproscopic sigmoid (colectomy)? LAR Proctectomy If so, that's a lotta surgery! As I said I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow but I cannot wait to find at least some ballpark answers to my questions. I know tha...

Re: Help! Surgery Monday! What is this surgery?

Two points: ⋅ I agree with roadrunner. You need to urgently clarify what this surgery is all about, especially since it seems to have substantial implications for quality of life (QOL). Maybe you will need to postpone it. . ⋅ Your signature is incomplete; it doesn't tell the whol...

Re: stage 4 with extensive lymph nodes involvement

@susanCT1 - In my opinion, it would be worthwhile for you to try to understand rp1954's approach to do-it-yourself (DIY) treatment planning. This approach involves a personalized, ever-evolving, customized treatment plan based on an evidence-based synthesis of standard treatments with the addition o...

There are a few more but can't think of them at the moment. I will check my bloodwork and let you know. I don't know about the cancer causing pain just ma...

Re: Update: First scan since chemo and MSK impact result

Rock_Robster brings up some excellent points. I just have a couple of things to add. If you're having trouble with anxiety, be careful with anti-anxiety drugs in the benzodiazepine class. They are intended for short-term use only; definitely not for long-term use. To deal with stress and anxiety it ...

Its Stage 4 with only lymph node involvement, but its extensive lymph nodes involvement, it involves paratracheal, prevascular, aortop...
