Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

My husband’s second scan is coming up next month, if it’s clear he will be at 2 years NED! I’m a nervous wreck over it, I know 2 years is an important milestone. I guess technically he has had no signs of disease since surgery early 2018 but he wasn’t given the title NED until after his clear scan t...

Re: Another anniversary

Congrats!! I hope one day I can also say my husband has been cancer free for 22 years. I'm so sorry about the horrible events happening in Australia, my heart goes out to everyone. I hope relief is just around the corner so the country can start to heal.

Re: Parastomal hernia

My husband's first surgery was an emergency so they had to use a very large abdominal cut, he has quite the gnarly scar! Unfortunately despite being careful during healing he has two incisional hernias and his surgeon told him not to worry about it unless it started causing a problem. He actually lo...

Re: Neuropathy improvement: individual experience

My husband's last treatment was August last year, and our doctor recommended adding B Complex to his daily meds regimen at home to help with the neuropathy. She warned us that it could take years to see improvement but not to lose hope. I know it seems trivial, but recently his feet have become tic...

Re: Thin scope for colonoscopy?

My husband initially only had a partial colonoscopy in the hospital because the tumor was blocking his colon (and thusly why we ended up there), so he had to get a complete colonoscopy months later. Unfortunately his stoma had shrunk a ridiculous amount and there was no way a normal scope would fit,...

Re: 1 Year Scan

Thank you everyone, I appreciate it <3 mobrouser I know how you feel, the scan and blood work are this Saturday but we won't find out the results until next Thursday! I'm not sure how I'll keep from worrying myself into a coma for five days but my coworker helpfully said "Just don't think about...

1 Year Scan

Long time no see! We're coming up on our 1 year CT Scan this weekend and to say I'm anxious about it would be an understatement. I have a hard time talking to anyone about scanxiety as they don't quite understand, and it's tiring when the response is a patronizing pat on the back coupled with "...

Re: Lingering Diarrhea?

NEMD is apparently a fancy way of saying NED: "No Evidence of Metastatic Disease" It's what they listed on his last CT Scan so I put it that way in my signature. John had a horrible ostomy experience, retracted AND it shrunk down to only 11 mm in diameter. He leaked constantly as no produc...

Lingering Diarrhea?

My husband had his ostomy take down back in October and other than watching a couple of numbers he’s been doing okay. A little over a week ago we both came down with some sort of intestinal bug and while we both got better his diarrhea is still lingering. No fever, bloating, pain etc just mild diarr...

Re: Caregivers and Post-NED Life

Well the results weren’t what I was hoping for, though the Oncologist seems unperturbed. Two of his bad levels improved, HGB and HCT have gone up so the iron pills are helping there, but his MCV and MCH have gone down for a second time. She explained this means that his red blood cells are small, bu...

Re: Im nervous

I know nothing of liver mets, but I do know everything about scanxiety. It doesn't always help, but try to stay busy with tasks that don't let your mind wander. Spending time with family and friends, talking with coworkers, working with my foster cats, just generally doing anything that can get me o...

Caregivers and Post-NED Life

Whenever something seems to not be quite right or when we get close to a blood test/check-up I always get antsy and lurk on the board and online more in general. For the most part, I try to kick cancer out of my mind and just enjoy being with my husband and appreciating this time of NED peace. But a...

Re: Seeking advice of colorectal cancer Survivors

All I remember is the Oncologist mentioning not to take any supplements that might cover up the effects of neuropathy. His general doctor said to take vitamin B to help the neuropathy but the Oncologist overruled, saying that it could mask the actual damage being done and she needed to know how bad ...
