Re: Last two chemos or covid booster?

Thank you for all your thoughtful responses. I feel this winter will be bad esp at the shelter. My small city reported 500 cases Thursday and today. My 11th chemo is wednesday. Plan: covid test tomorrow. If negative I'll get booster. If positive, well....I'll inform my oncologist and let the chips f...

Re: Last two chemos or covid booster?

Thank you. My oncologist told me the booster would do nothing. Thanks again!

Last two chemos or covid booster?

10 folfox treatments in the books. Post-surgery: stage 1. Good margins. I work in a homeless shelter. 3 confirmed covid cases this week. Surely more to come. Oncologist says do the treatments because pre-surgery cat scan showed a few "suspicious" lymph nodes. But post surgery pathology sho...

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

I'm happy to report that my pain is turning a corner. Another news I saw my oncologist. I completed nine chemotherapy appointments. And even though my pathological stage is now stage one, they want me to complete the three remaining chemos. They explained by saying on my original CAT scan, they saw ...

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

Fascinating. I see my surgeon on November 4th so I'll be sure to ask about this. Meanwhile I'm off to learn more. Thanks again O Stoma Mia. You are a real amount of information.

No codes but this is the description of what they did in the surgery. From the operative report.

Laparoscopic hand-assisted sigmoid colectomy with coloproctostomy.
Rigid proctosigmoidoscopy.

ANESTHESIA: General.

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

The pain is constant, not after BM. O Stoma Mia, thank you for your usual thorough response. It is the major incision, not the smaller ones. I do not think it is referred pain. My BMs do not hurt and seem normal. When I called the surgeon the nurse was really snotty to me and intimated that they wou...

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

I just can't believe I went through a first surgery, then nine rounds of chemo, then another surgery and this is the thing that hurts the most. Sorry if I'm whining. I'm away on a long weekend and I had to miss a concert that I was supposed to go to cuz I can't walk straight. It's ridiculous. The do...

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

I had surgery almost 3 weeks ago and the pain is not getting better. If anything it's a bit worse. There are still no signs of infection. WTF? When will this get better?

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

Many thanks, CRguy! I called my surgeon Friday but he did not call me back. I'm going to call him again tomorrow. I do find that if I stretch gently the pain subsides. So I'm going to try to do a lot of stretching today.

Re: Incision pain 12 days after surgery

Thank you! If I am still, the pain is less but still there. It's when I move or walk, typically hunched over, that it gets worse. I will try the ice pack.

Incision pain 12 days after surgery

I had a sigmoid colectomy on October 4th. They gave me tramadol for the pain, 50 mg every 4 hours. I stopped taking it for a bit because I didn't like the way it made me feel. But the pain is very intense. Yesterday I thought I would have to go to the er. There are no signs of infection. No pus no r...
