Re: Clinical Trials chemo vs immunotherapy

Very tough question but I have had lots of experience with this and "trial shopped" for 2 years. First, if your MSI high then get on a PD-1 trial as soon as possible If you are like the majority and MSS then I will give some advice: If your chemo is working and your tolerating it then ride...

Re: Looking for hope/curative solutions

Sounds like you are doing everything you can to beat this. I will offer some opinions but myself nor anyone on this board can give you medical advice better than what you have received because we do not have the full picture of your disease. Your physicians may not have satisfied your desire for a c...

CPI-444 with PD-L1, good preclinical data

This is a trial starting soon with an A2A receptor inhibitor that may help PD-L1 work for MSS mCRC. No trial locations listed yet and it will be randomized but it has excellent pre-clinical data/models; https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02655822?type=Intr&cond=colorectal&rcv_s=12%2F...

Re: BMS Immunotherapy Strategic Update at JP Morgan Conference

You got to believe with this many "shots on goal" with good preclinical modeling that at least one of these will help the MSS mCRC community.

Re: New met in 3 weeks???

It was likely there 3 weeks ago but not picked up on. The CT slice thickness may have been too large to detect it very well. What I mean by this is different facilities/radiologists/protocols use different slice thickness on CT scans. A 1mm thickness is very precise but take longer with more radiati...

Re: Surgical oncologist vs colorectal surgeon?

I think you have made an excellent decision. At MDA you will have a different surgeon for each area that is needed. In other words, a colorectal surgeon for the colon, a liver surgeon for the liver, an urological surgeon for any bladder/ureter area etc.. For one of my wife's surgeries there she had ...

Re: Hip/Back pain and stiffness...radiation side effect?

Being a physical therapist I would recommend seeing your family doctor and getting a prescription for physical therapy. Radiation and the associated scarring cause many tissues to tighten which alters the way joints work and can lead to weakness and pain. A therapist can find what is tight and teach...

Crc trials in MDA are a bit disappointing Imo.

I agree. Hopefully the Moonshot designation will change that

Re: I am so mad I could scream!!!!!

It s extremely frustrating. I have to follow every bill and EOB (Explanation of Benefit) closely because I have seen numerous, probably 20% of claims, errors. You need to look at your policy closely for and most importantly look at your EOBs. If you find something wrong, which you will if you have m...

Re: do doctors share there trial data with new candidates ?

In my personal experience the doctors and the research nurses have been very open with what they have seen in their particular facility in general terms. They have told us the side effects they have seen and generally if there have been responses. This was the case at several facilities. One researc...

Re: Immunotherapy Clinical Trials

Sorry about your husband. Your question is very complicated with many variables. The biggest question is what his his MS(microsatellite) status. Please search this site for what that means. If he is MSI high or has MMR, then I would definitely talk to your oncologist about a checkpoint inhibitor, PD...

Re: Are Phase I clinical trials worth it?

Without going into the science part of the trial here are some of my thoughts. According to Deciphera's last press release on financing in late September they are in late stage dose escalation of Altiratnib in phase I which means you would be getting a dosage that you think would be therapeutic by n...

Re: Are Phase I clinical trials worth it?

There are lots of variables in deciding on clinical trials. One really has to either do a tremendous amount of research yourself or have trust in your oncologist. In of itself the ideal trial would be a phase II where you know the side effects and know the reported responses. It would also not be ra...

Re: CEA down but CT scan shows progression??

Same thing happened to my wife on panitumumab and iri. Our team also said the CTs are more reliable than CEA. Her CEA has always been an excellent indicator except for the time when she started progressing on panitumumab. An explanation may be the cancer cells that expressed CEA were responding to t...
