Re: Close Call in the OR

I've become pretty self-sufficient on my bi-monthly trips to Manhattan, but I do get my pre-consult scans done at Basking Ridge. If you're near there, let's get together for lunch or a cup of coffee, at least. Oh, I understand completely. Right now all I'm doing is Xeloda and I still fall on and of...

Re: Close Call in the OR

I don't know if you saw my note, but next time you're in there, especially if you're around for a few days, and you need some errands run or what have you, let me know. I'm only an hour away, and at MSK every two weeks at least anyway. "I'm going to give you a mild dose of Ativan so that we don...

I hope you don't think this presumptuous of me, but from the perspective of the cared for (and not the caregiver), however it may now seem, please believe me when I tell you that none of it was for naught.

Re: Some good news

My local oncologist told me I would never be a candidate for surgery and would be on chemo for life. We fought over it and I got a second opinion from another cancer center. A few surgeries later and I was cancer free. Go with your gut instincts on this. Find a board-certified thoracic surgeon or a...

Re: H is for Hawk

I'm more sorry to hear this than I can say. When my lung mets were found in September, Barry was enormously helpful to me - frequently messaging me with information, suggestions, and ideas. We were meant to meet for coffee at MSK one of these days, but our schedules hadn't yet overlapped. He was a k...

Re: Stage 4 hope

Mom just had her results and she is still clean. 14 months remission. She has had remissions before but this is the longest. Diagnosed at stage 4 May 2011. Happy holidays to all and I think of you all daily. Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us - fantastic news for you and your mother...

Hi - who is the doc at MSK? I'm there too, and would be interested in speaking with someone about what they recommend.

Thanks.

Thanks Bev -

That's a pretty good way to have it work out, I'd say :)

Re: Life Insurance Accelerated Death Benefit Rider

I agree, I don't think I'm there (I don't even like writing "yet") either, but having reviewed the language, it appears to require a certification w/r/t to life expectancy, rather than an analysis of the individual case. I'd just be curious to find the expectancy numbers for metastatic rec...

Re: Life Insurance Accelerated Death Benefit Rider

You have chanelled into the EXACT reason " Critical Illness Insurance " was born. Back in the day (my day  ) when HIV /AIDS was considered a death sentence ... the MegaInsuros figured out that it was easier and cheaper to pay out 50% up front on a life insurance policy, than 100% o...
