Waiting for that "NED" status

Sunday will be DH's one year "cancerversary". He has had all of his post treatment tests completed. Colonscopy - clear! repeat in 3 years CEA < .5 - YAY! CT scan - "new soft tissue thickening in presacral space possibly secondary to radiation therapy"...ugh I hate that word "...

Re: Pre Sacral soft tissue thickening after treatment

Thanks Nik. Just wanted to update here in case anyone else in the future searches on this topic and this can be of help. We had our normally scheduled follow up with the surgeon today. He hadn't seen the CT report yet (the onc ordered it and had not sent a copy) but asked and I mentioned the presacr...

Re: Slight tailbone pain after rectal cancer surgery

My husband had this too. And honestly all kinds of pains and sensations right after surgery and as healing progressed. It took a long time for everything to settle down but now six months out most of his pain has resolved. It does get better albeit slowly. All the organs are shifting around finding ...

Pre Sacral soft tissue thickening after treatment

Hi all. Scan time for DH and I'm in a panic. Hoping you good folks can help ease my mind. The ct report states a new presacral soft tissue thickening is seen possibly secondary to radiotherapy. Spoke to medical oncologist who was mildly reassuring but he wants to confer with the radiological onc who...

Re: Oncologist visit

Hope your scans are clear and cea is normal. I too would skip the chemo unless necessary. This month is scan/colonoscopy time for DH and I pray his are clear as well. I fear he would refuse anymore chemo after his awful reaction.
Sorry 2016 started rough for you. Hope the remainder is great!

Treatment ending - S/E questions

DH has two more days of Xeloda and then we move onto surveillance mode. I'd love to say he is nearly back to normal, but between the chemo and the surgery, his body is not rebounding as quickly as he would like. I suppose its within the range of normal, but for a young man its quite frustrating to b...

Re: Colostomy surgery.

I am so sorry you find yourself in this situation. BUTT at least your docs are on top of it and caught the recurrence quickly and are being aggressive with treatment. As for the surgery and recovery, I won't sugar coat it, for my husband it has been a long slow recovery...however he has been having ...

Re: Haven't want to post

Hi Judy, I am so sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience. Unfortunately, that's kind of they way it went for my husband as well. Not exactly the same symptoms but extreme neuropathy, nausea, weakness, muscle cramps and crushing fatigue that didn't let up for two weeks. AS you know they tr...

Hip/Back pain and stiffness...radiation side effect?

I remember reading her before of others who developed hip pain and/or low back pain after radiation but unfortunately the search feature hasn't worked for me because "hip" is too short. DH is finally turning the corner on the pain from his perineal wound, bladder issues starting to resolve...

Re: Chemo - the gift that also (like radiation) keeps on giving

Cmewrrie- No I never did get any answers, and I still have no idea what that pain was from just after surgery, if that's what you mean.... Even after a battery of scans, etc... However there is hope... It's been many months since I posted that, and all of that pain has subsided at this point, compl...
