No I haven't. I do the Quaker Instant but with water instead of milk.

Re: Kinda O/T, Kinda not - Nutrition

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

@MissMolly, the Orgain Vegan did the trick. Finally something that's not causing really bad gas pain!

AS far as other suggestions, I'm starting to be able to get some things in and keep them down. Hopefully we can kickstart the recovery now.

Kinda O/T, Kinda not - Nutrition

I've had a bit of a rough go of things over the past 6 weeks or so. It started in Mid-November when I suffered a gallstone induced attack of pancreatitis that landed me in the local hospital for a week. Initially they were very hip on removing my gallbladder but once I spoke with the local hospital ...

Re: Am I Supplementing with too Much Vitamin D?

Honestly, I think you should discuss these results with your doctor and determine appropriate dosing with them.

Re: Chemo question - no leucovorin

I was doing FOLFOX but after a couple treatments we dropped the leucovorin and the 5FU bolus before the 46 hour infusion. Both were giving me some gastric issues. It didn't seem to make that much of a difference in my treatment.

As always your mileage may vary.

Re: 2nd post on getting to know others

Hi Nik, I too think this series of threads is a wonderful idea. My name is Steve, I am 50 and married to my wife Mary and we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past summer. We have two children. My son is 18 and a senior in high school and making final decisions on what colleges to apply t...

Re: holidays

I tend not to do things for the holidays because everyone else does. I bribe...I mean gift...them with Girl Scout Cookies once they go on sale in February. Nothing beats a late winter sugar rush just as they are getting over the holiday sugar rush.

Re: Travel Anxiety - anyone else?

I was recently at a conference, and one of the conference organizers had an alergic reaction to what they ate the night before the event began. My point is anything can happen to anyone at any time. If your medical team thinks you are fit to travel, there's probably not a lot to worry about. Some th...

Re: chemo for lifers - taking a break

I think it's important to remember that everyone will respond differently. That said, when I was on FOLFOX initially I would take an extra week between treatments once in every 6 treatment cycle. Whether it was for a holiday (I didn't want to dose over Christmas) or a trip. I didn't have any discern...

Re: Why the medical community recommends exams at 50 and older?

Its a good question, and one I was just discussing with a friend of my wife's who does market research for a health insurance company. It basically comes down to statistics. 90% of CRC cases are still dx in the >50 population. There are cases where there is recommendation for colonoscopies for those...

Re: Inoperable Stage IVs

I was deemed inoperable because of the number of liver mets and that they were in both lobes. I am chemo for life. I do 5-FU and Avastin and switch back and forth between adding back in the Oxili depending on what's going on. The liver mets are no longer visible on scan and has remained that way, ho...
