Re: CRC patient in Brazil

Thank you everyone! I think some of the information getting to the family in the states gets somewhat lost in translation. I don't have exact bone mets info on him, but I wanted to reassure the family that they might make it sound like it is terminal when treatment options should still be explored o...

Re: recently diagnosed low RC

Your story is so familiar to mine...:exactly 1 year ago for me...I did end up with a perm colostomy mine was also very low. My surgeon told me he would need to take at least half of the involuntary sphincter muscles maybe more in surgery. He did give me the option to try and temp but I didn't want t...

Re: Newly diagnosed~how to handle all the emotions

I'm sorry you are going through this. You should tell whoever you feel comfortable telling and definitely try to keep it normal. My son was almost 8 years old and my daughter was 8 months old when I was diagnosed last year. I too had a spot on my lung which ended up being benign...I did luck out exc...

Re: Having concerning symptoms--need peace of mind

my initial symptoms were irregular BM's for years...then it lead to blood streaked stool and pencil thin stools for about two weeks before I went in to see the doc. I have a history of hemorrhoids...but the blood looked different. It was maroon and ribboned into my stool. If getting a colonoscopy wi...

Re: time for a colostomy?

i have had my colostomy for almost a year now...i have had almost zero issues. I haven't had adhesive issues due to sweat or anything I think that maybe a matter of finding the right product or manufacturer. I don't know if its possible for you to get a reversible colostomy? My uncle had one due to ...

Re: 4cm polyp! Freaking out

So is it benign? They told me a week for my results.....my GI doc called me the next day to let me know it was cancer before the full biopsy report was done....so I'm assuming its all clear for you?

Re: Stage Two, No Chemo, Which Doctor Monitor Your Cancer St

I am stage 1.....my surgeon monitors me. CEA checks every 3 months CT then 6 months colonoscopy then CT yearly. My PCP is also in the know on my situation too. I still don't understand why you aren't having chemo though? You may want to get a second opinion on that.

Re: Possible symptoms of colon cancer

its really such a good sign that you have no blood detected in your stool.....I wouldn't immediately think of cancer, it really can be any number of things going on. Does your doctor recommend a colonoscopy?

Re: stage 1 RC's out there I need your input!

Thank you Ladies! That's very encouraging:) I feel really lucky about my diagnosis....all except for the LVI, that really bothers me and I have that nagging pit of my stomach feeling that this cancer business isn't over for me. I know I will get over it eventually but I don't want to be to overconfi...
